Security officer returned to VP schools

The Villa Park City Council voted unanimously to restore funding for a dedicated School Resource Officer from the OC Sheriff’s Department to work the campuses of Villa Park’s four public schools. Funds for the program were previously cut from the 2009-10 budget when the State threatened to discontinue grant funds used for the officer. However, these State funds were not cut and the program known as COPS can be restored at no cost to the city.
The first Town Hall meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept 14 at 7 p.m. On the agenda will be the city’s community preservation program, the proposed process for dealing with nuisance properties and the restructuring of the Villa Park Community Access Television.
